Description/Blazon
On a blue disk with a 1/16 inch (.16 cm) white border within a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) red border 2 inches (5.08 cm) overall, a white vertical stripe bearing a red chain throughout.

Symbolism
The chain is symbolic of a chain of support.  The numerical designation of the unit is represented in the pattern:  three links of the chain, the circular border and the one stripe.

Background
The shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 301st Logistical Command on 7 March 1952.  It was redesignated for the 301st Support Brigade on 19 January 1966.  It was cancelled on 30 August 1972.  The insignia was reinstated and redesignated for the 301st Support Group on 25 February 1999. Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a gold disk bearing a triparted chevron composed of a white chevron between a scarlet one above and a blue one below and in base a white rectangle, vertical axis longer, all encircled by a gold chain; and encircling the sides and base a scarlet scroll bearing the inscription "THE UNBROKEN CHAIN" in gold letters.

Symbolism
The chain refers to the organization's motto.  The rectangle depicts a billet, a heraldic symbol which connotes the unit's supply and service capabilities, and the chevron is symbolic of the support mission.  The chevrons, one above the other, also refer to the unit's location in the state of New York which has for its motto "EXCELSIOR" (Ever Upward).  Additionally, the three chevrons, circular chain and upright rectangle allude to the numerical designation of the Group.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 301st Support Brigade on 31 March 1970.  It was redesignated for the 301st Support Group on 4 April 1972.
